What would you change in the music industry if you were a top exec.?
A part of music industry reminds me of the fashion world. It sends a signal of that you need to
have the right look to be an artist, and perform music. Of course a beautiful man or woman is
always nice to look at, but I think it is far more important to “listen” and not always “see”. Music
is heard, not watched.
If you weren't Ms. K the singer/songwriter, what would you be doing?
I work at a playground where I have singing-lessons/group with small children. I study IT di-
dactic Design part-time at the University and I love cooking, so I have many other things keep-
ing me busy.
What should people expect at a live show from you?
My previous performances were singer/songwriter concerts. I am thinking about trying to do
some soul/jazz covers with a trio.
You seem to be a talented individual; do you play any musical instruments?
Yes, I play some piano, but singing is main instrument.
How do you feel about originality in R&B/Soul/Jazz world today?
I think Jill Scott, Janelle Monáe & Kellis are pretty original, but I think much soul/ R&B music
sounds the same. Billie Holiday is the best jazz singer I know. I wonder why there is nobody like
her in this big world of music?
What's next from Ms. K?
More collaborations. Perhaps one day I’ll release a singer/songwriter
album, and maybe I will do some covers of my favorites songs.
