Page 13 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT—SINDIAN aka RIGHTEOUS THE GODDESS By: Terrence Hazly Sindian aka Righteous Da Goddess's message is of peace, love and war. Beginning from within, with an ultimate goal of spreading that peace to and through as many people as possible by means of her music; firmly believing and/or feeling that music is the highest form of love if done right. The nation- ally and internationally known rapper resides in Richmond, Virginia but insist that the very thing that motivated her and continuously elevates her growth upward was her upbringing; Staten Island, New York. How did you get started? What is it like working with Wu-Management? I started as a youngin' battling in ciphers and entering hip hop contests across New York, from there I started recording and working on projects. I no longer work with Wu-Tang management but when I did I learned a lot about the game. The insides and the outs so that experience humbled me in a lot of ways. And of course to be surrounded by legends that I grew up with was a blessing!!! Describe the Sindian style. Sindian's style is very unique. It's like a new heaven. Very tasteful, seductive, street and wise. It's a whole blend of things, and I can't wait to feed ya'll lol. Tell us about your writing abilities & flow style. My writing abilities have gotten better but I rarely write nowadays. I'll start off with a verse or hook and just go off top with the rest. You hav e to understand I been writing 15 plus years so I got tired of writing. That goes for texts emails and so on as well lol. What type of obstacles have you encountered getting to where you are? Just me being a female on a male emcees level is an obstacle in itself. Adjusting to different environments also. I'm from New York but I live currently In Richmond, VA so making my rounds out here was a challenge but I gained a lot of love and respect. I know more obsta- cles will come but I have a slogan "Life is filled with obstacles, obtain them and master them". That’s the shit I live by. Name your three biggest musical influences and they affect you. Nas, Jean Grae and my Pops. One for Nas cause he is the one artist that influenced me to start writing. And I appreciate his storytelling and longevity; he is the greatest in my opinion.
