THE BEST MIX OF MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT ON THE INTERNET! WWW.COLLEGEUNDERGROUNDRADIO.COM It’s odd how things fall into place sooner or later, almost as if the universe is conspiring for or against us. College Underground Magazine was borne from a casual conversation, almost wishful thinking that soon became a reality I was all too deliriously happy to participate in. With a 7 year background in the music industry, writing and editing, I felt I had been molded into this position years beforehand…without ever knowing it. In creating both the launch of the website and the first issue of the magazine, I realized how much work is put into the big obvi- ous magazine and website details everyone notices immediately and how, ironically, even more work is put into the details that often go overlooked. Each panicked moment was beautiful. Our mission here at College Underground Magazine is clear. With the influence of the indie artist and fanbase behind us, we catapult the independents to the top as we shine a light into the underground, exposing all which the mainstream has overlooked and we deem it the new mainstream, that which is quality driven and powerful. In this, the inaugural issue, we present to you our first Cover Story Winner, Steve Ryan, whose catchy tunes, positive message and daily growing fanbase make him the epitome of the successful indie artist. In honor of our inaugural week, a special treat for our readers: Two Artists Spotlights. The first is an insatiable singer, Sabrina Signs, who in her 18 years of life has more wisdom than most and she pours it into her music...forcing you to dance whether you want to or not! The second is a rising pop hip hop artist, Bikey, who will make you question your own life...in a good way! Thanks for stopping by! Do not forget: we depend on you to help us evolve into what you, the reader, want in a magazine. Look around, check out our content and let us know what you think, don’t be shy! Check back often for website updates; we are at it every day. A great quote comes to mind: Red Smith was asked if turning out a daily column was a chore. “Why, no.”, dead-panned Red, “You simply sit down at the type- writer, open your veins and bleed.” Don’t worry about us. We have plenty of juice and cookies.. -Ely Torres
