Page 12 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT—SABRINA SIGNS What has been your biggest break thus far? That is a tough question. It really has been a journey. It’s been a series of pay it for- ward type of events. People collaborating with me because they believe in me after getting to know me and my story. Random acts of kindness and individual contribu- tors have also been a help. I have fans (more like friends now) who send me some funds now and then. There are also new tools for artists to raise funds with. I have used everything from Indigogo to Stageit.com. I also ask people to sponsor me. I have had sponsors for things ranging from Jeans (Cocoa Jeans) to Spray Tans (Liquid Sunshine). I have a very mean work ethic and don’t think I have had my “Big Break” yet. What artist were you proudest to work alongside? Wow, again a hard question you ask. There are so so so many talented artists here, if you see my LinkedIn profile and see all the talented people who have worked with me you will understand that I can’t just pick ONE…. I can only hope there will be more to come. Who are your musical influences? Influences in general? Well, at five I was a die hard fan of Avril Lavigne. It was a bit of a scandal that she was my Idol at a young age. As soon as I was old enough I was listening to every type of music I could. Surfing the internet was a hobby looking for the newest music and I always loved knowing about an artist BEFORE they became well known. When I was 11 I loved singing R&B. Right now I would say my musical influences are Dash Berlin, Adventure Club, Armin Van Buuren, Krewella, Avicii, Steve Aoki, Kaskade and Clavin Harris. I’m sure I forgot a few. ahha You do a lot of charity work. Is there anything coming up you can tell us about or any way or readers can also get involved in an organization you’re part of? I do. Charity work kind of falls into my lap at the last minute. Someone may have a charity for any cause and they will invite me to perform and if I am available I am al- ways excited about being part of a show. I strongly believe that artists have the pow- er to help make a difference in the world, using their talents to draw people in to whatever the cause is at the moment. What is your ultimate goal in the music industry? What is your plan of ac- tion to get there? To leave an impact on people in a positive manner. I want to leave people thinking I feel that too or I get it, and I have been there too. If I can influence people enough to change their lives even if it’s a moment of time- for them to make a decision that is positive because they were listening to my music.
