Strategy 2020
COUNCIL APPROVES YEAR TWO TACTICS
At a recent meeting , Council reviewed an update on the progress made during the first year of Strategy 2020 , the College ’ s strategic plan .
Council approved tactics for year two which will include a public opinion survey , continued work of the legislative reform implementation advisory group , revision of the telemedicine standard ,
policy guidance on the proper handling and restraint of animals by veterinarians , and collaboration with regulatory colleagues to develop a national competencies framework for the veterinary profession .

COUNCIL CLARIFIES POLICY FOR REFERRALS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
At its March meeting , Council approved a policy which clarifies the College ’ s position on referrals to law enforcement agencies .
Council is attentive to continually enhancing its investigations and resolutions process . Following a recent discipline case , Council sought greater transparency on the College ’ s interactions with law enforcement agencies .
When the College becomes aware of information that suggests a crime has occurred , the College will encourage the victim or those who are aware of the criminal activities to contact the police . If the College becomes aware of illegal activity through its own investigations , the College , following the

His service and contribution has been greatly appreciated and he has made a meaningful difference to the regulation of veterinary medicine in Ontario .

The College maintains positive relationships with law enforcement agencies and meets regularly with the Ontario Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario .

Online Learning Modules — The College offers online learning modules to assist veterinarians in understanding the requirements and expectations . Recently added is a learning module series which presents “ Foundations for Medical Record Keeping : Companion Animal .” The self-study module is a welcome resource for veterinarians and clinic staff who are seeking education in understanding the requirements for companion animal medical record keeping . Take advantage of these new modules !
