Otterbourg's Melanie Cyganowski was appointed by U.S District Judge Jesse Furman to the plaintiffs’ Executive Committee that will assist lead counsel in key aspects of the General Motors ignition switch litigation pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Furman, who is overseeing more than 100 cases against G.M., appointed Ms. Cyganowski on August 15 among other leadership appointments related to the litigation.

Blank Rome's Bonnie Glantz Fatell has been selected as a 2015 Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers® in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law.

The Honorable Robert E. Gerber (U.S. Bankruptcy Court SDNY) was presented with the 3rd Annual New York Institute of Credit The Honorable Burton R. Lifland Mentor of the Year Award. Presented by the Honorable Arthur J. Gonzalez (Ret.), this award is presented to an Industry Leader who has given guidance and direction to future leaders in the financial, credit, restructuring and bankruptcy communities.

Chief Judge Barbara J. Houser will be presented the Judge William L. Norton, Jr. Judicial Excellence Award during the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges annual meeting in Chicago in October. The Norton Judicial Excellence Award was established by Thomson/West and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) in 2006, and it honors a current or retired judge based upon a career of lifetime achievement as an educator, writer, or scholar. Chief Judge Houser will be the 9th recipient of the award.

Kay S. Kress has been appointed Chair of the American Bar Association's Business Bankruptcy Committee. She is named in The Best Lawyers in America, is a founding member of the Michigan Chapter of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, and has played a number of roles within the ABA’s Business Bankruptcy Committee.

Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard was named N.C. Lawyers Weekly's 2014 Lawyer of the Year by a vote of an independent panel of judges.

Jenner & Block's Ron Peterson was named the Chairman of Ripon College's Board of Trustees in October

2014. Ron was also honored

on October 9, 2014 with the Commercial Law League of America’s Lawrence P. King Award for Excellence in the Field of Bankruptcy.

Potter Anderson Corroon LLP's Laurie Selber Silverstein was named by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals as the tentative selection for a judgeship in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, one of busiest corporate bankruptcy venues in the country.

Gibbons' Frank J. Vecchione, a director in the firm’s Financial Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights Department, was honored as a Fifty-Year member of the Essex County Bar Association (ECBA) at the organization’s annual dinner on October 16, 2014.
