Dear Players, Parents of Players and Coaches,
It is my sincere hope that you gain valuable knowledge from this college recruiting
publication. We have gathered some of the country’s finest baseball college coaches, to
provide our readers with valuable insights and information about college baseball recruiting.
I have been actively involved in baseball for over 50 years. I started out as a youngster,
playing local boy’s league baseball. As a High School player, I was chosen as an All-State
player in Ohio, and as a college player, I played my freshman year at the University of Dayton
and started as a catcher, only to find out that U of Dayton did not offer the field of study I
wished to pursuit, nor did it offer the type of social environment that I was looking for. I’m
not bashing U of Dayton, it is a fine school. But, it just wasn’t a fit for me. But it took me my
entire freshman year to find that out. I found the right fit in the U of Central Florida, but if I
wanted to play ball, I was required to sit out a year.
Once I went through the process, I had the most rewarding experience of my life, which lead
me to pro ball. It was all about being in the correct environment to succeed athletically,
academically, socially and gain maturity I so badly needed.
After my playing days were over, I went on to coach 16U, 18U and Collegiate Elite teams. I
made every effort to assist my players in assessing their skillset, academics and finances to
make excellent college choices. Most often, I was over-ridden by parents and their misplaced
assumptions.
I ended my coaching career in Las Vegas, NV, coaching ninth-graders, and witnessed the
pressures that parents placed on their kids to attempt to get noticed by D-1 college coaches.
