UPCOMING EVENTS Program Highlights Baker and Baker Presents: Art of Music: (9) (Emergence) Friday, January 4 | Doors open at 7:00 p.m. | Concert begins at 8:00 p.m.   Experimental music duo Greg Stuart and Michael Pisaro wowed audiences 15 months ago with their performance of Hearing Metal 3 for 16 suspended cymbals and sine tones. Now they are back to present their most ambitious project yet. Stuart and Pisaro will perform a wave and waves at the Museum accompanied by 50 performers. (9) (Emergence), written by Pisaro, has been presented as a recording in San Diego, Austin and Berlin. This will be the first time that (9) (Emergence) will be performed live. Pisaro’s piece was inspired by John Ashbery’s poem A Wave (1984). Influenced by the abstract expressionist painters such as Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, Ashbery’s poetry echoes in language the fluid yet sublime element in these painters’ work. Born in Berkeley, California and hailing from Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Greg Stuart is dedicated to expanding new music for percussion through commissions, improvisation and mixed-media projects. Michael Pisaro is a composer and guitarist, a member of the Wandelweiser Composers Ensemble and founder and director of the Experimental Music Workshop. $10 / $8 for members.
