Reese Receives 2017 Great Teacher Award Dr . Jeff Reese is a recipient of the UK Alumni Association ’ s 2017 Great Teacher Award . Each year , the association recognizes six professors for outstanding teaching and honors them with a plaque and a cash award at a recognition luncheon or dinner . It is the oldest , continuously-given award for teachers at the University of Kentucky . Reese was surprised with the award at the college ’ s December meeting . He will later be recognized at center court on the floor of Rupp Arena during a basketball game . Since 1961 , when the program was started , 277 faculty members have been honored . Recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the UK Alumni Association ’ s Board of Directors and representatives of the student organization Omicron Delta Kappa .
Students Partner with Lexington Police for Autism Advocacy
College of Education doctoral students Abbey Love , Educational Psychology , and Jina Arballo , School Psychology , have developed a partnership with the Lexington Police Department aimed at advocating on behalf of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder ( ASD ) in the local community . The partnership has three primary goals : 1 .) Educate officers on ways to promote positive interactions with individuals with ASD , 2 .) Educate community members on resources and supports

that would promote positive interactions between officers and individuals with ASD , and 3 .) Increase visibility of individuals with ASD by encouraging interaction outside of crisis and emergency situations .

Applied Quantitative and Psychometric Series
The Applied Psychometric Strategies lab has been providing a series of presentations on a range of quantitative and psychometric topics . Anyone interested in the research is invited to attend . For more information , contact Dr . Michael Toland at toland . md @ uky . edu .
The lab , directed by Toland , aims to conduct research on psychometric problems encountered in educational psychology and share developments in psychometrics that can be used to advance measurement in applied and research settings .
