Jazbrick: A family owned and operated company, Jazbrick’s plants produce clay and calcite (concrete) brick at two locations in Southern Ontario: Rexdale, Ontario (1998) and Hamilton, Ontario (2000). Jazbrick services markets only in Southern Ontario. Paisley Brick & Tile Co. Ltd: Paisley Brick and Tile is a family owned business located in the heart of Southwestern Ontario. Paisley is the smallest of the five main clay brick manufacturers in Canada, is located in Paisley, Ontario and services only Southern Ontario. Shaw Brick: Shaw Brick is a family owned and operated company founded in 1861 in Lantz, Nova Scotia which services only New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I-XL: A fourth generation family-owned company located in Medicine Hat, Alberta, I-XL has been producing brick and stone products since 1912 and services markets in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Mutual Materials: This firm currently operates 10 manufacturing facilities in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. The facilities include three brick plants, four block plants, a paver plant, an architectural slab plant and a bagged mortar and grout plant. Brick products are available throughout the United States and Canada. Concrete masonry and hardscape products are available throughout British Columbia and the Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Western Montana. McNear Brick & Block: McNear opened for business in 1868, based on the idea of supplying clay brick, clay pavers, interlocking concrete pavers, retaining wall systems, and fireplaces from a single source. McNear services British Columbia and Western US (coastal). Tri-County Brick: Tri-County Brick produces clay brick along with roofing, fireplaces and block pavers. They are located in South-Western Ontario and serve their catchment area. Employment & Revenues In 2012, the breakdown of employer establishments in the Concrete Pipe, Brick and Block Manufacturing industry was as follows: 17.1% of them were considered micro, employing less than five employees. Small establishments accounted for 77.6% and medium-sized establishments accounted for an additional 5.3% of the total number of establishments. Large employers, those with more than five hundred persons on payroll, accounted for 0.0% of the total establishments in the Concrete Pipe, Brick and Block Manufacturing industry.158 Note: In the above data, establishments are considered micro if they employ fewer than 5 people.
