15 . Canada ’ s New Horizons for Seniors
Organizations that want to help seniors make a difference in the lives of others , and in their communities , are eligible to receive federal grants and contributions funding . Projects must be led or inspired by seniors and address one or more of the following five program objectives :
• Promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations .
• Engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others .
• Expanding awareness of elder abuse , including financial abuse .
• Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors .
• Providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and / or programs for seniors .

16 . Ontario Ministry of Agriculture , Food and Rural Affairs ’ Local Food Fund
The Local Food Fund will assist with projects that focus on marketing and promotional activities that improve consumer awareness and demand for local foods . Examples of eligible projects under this category are :
• Promotion , marketing or branding events or activities that promotes regional or local food specialties such as culinary destinations , organic products , seasonal availability , food festivals .
• Promotion and marketing of new products .
• Educational events .

17 . The Sustainable New Agri-Food Products Fund
FedNor and Industry Canada have invested $ 290,000 in a pilot project that will help small agrifood producers and processors in Northern Ontario create new and value-added products . Through a new program , called Sustainable New Agri-Food Products ( SNAP ), the Sault Ste . Marie Innovation Centre ( SSMIC ) and its partners will provide eligible applicants with up to $ 5000 toward the cost of new equipment to create a new or value-added food product . In the Sault Ste . Marie / Algoma region , the Rural Agricultural Innovation Network , part of the SSMIC , will oversee the SNAP program . Its partner organizations are the Northeast Community Network in Kapuskasing , the Eat Local Sudbury Co-operative and the Clover Valley Farmers ’ Market in Fort Frances .
