Sleeping Beauty kicks Humpty Dumpty in panto
off the panto season
Will there be an apple to bite? A
wicked witch? A charming Prince
Charming. You'll never know unless you
go along and join in the fun at Sleeping
Beauty, which kicks off the Panto Season.
This production of Sleeping Beauty is an
original, pantomime script written by
Stella Reardon and directed by Leigh
Humphries.
Although it is based on the traditional
story, it has some hilarious scenes and
comical characters such as the Gangsters,
disguised as jesters who are employed to
protect the Princess from the evil
Maleficent, Fanny Surefire the Nanny,
played by a man in Dame role and Sadie,
the Lady in Waiting who speaks in rhyme.
Sleeping Beauty is played by Blanca
Hele na Sierra who in the past has played
Cinderella and Jack as a Principal boy in
Jack and the Beanstalk and Prince Rupert
is played by a newcomer to the group,
Victoria Scott as a Principal Boy. Both
Blanca and Victoria are very talented
actresses and singers and play their parts
with enthusiasm and professionalism, as
do the whole cast. This performance is
interspersed with song to aid the telling
of the story and so has something to
appeal to everyone.
They are performing at the Cardenal
Belluga Theatre in San Fulgencio and
their first performance is a matinee on
Thursday 26th November at 3.00pm,
followed by two evening performances
on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th
November at 8.00pm. Proceeds from
ticket sales will be shared between the
Alzheimer's Association, the Cardenal
Belluga theatre and other local charities.
Tickets are 6.00€ each and includes a free
drink on arrival. There is a 10% discount
for group bookings of 10 or more. Tickets
are on sale at The Card Place in Benimar,
The Post Room in Benijofar, The Post Box
in Dona Pepa, Quesada, Marabu Lounge
in Quesada, Kennedy's supermarket in
Montesinos and Ray's Laundry in La
Marina. Alternatively, call Jenny on 608

It's getting near Pantomime season
and The Rojales Pantomime group are
now into rehearsals for their
pantomime HUMPTY DUMPTY to be
performed January14th, 15th and 16th,
next year, at The Escuela de Musica y
Cultura in Los Montesinos. Humpty
Dumpty is a very unusual pantomime,
and this has been chosen because they
have already performed most of the
classic ones so this will be a refreshing
change from the norm.
However, don't worry as there is the
usual Pantomime Dame, The comical
twosome, Mother Goose
is the equal to Fairy Godmother and
there is also a couple of very bad
baddies (boooooooo) with a load of
nursery rhyme characters making up
the rest of the cast and chorus. They are
also hoping to have some of the girls
from Footwork Dance Studios helping
them out with some dance routines.
Most of the members have never
been on stage before so if you think
you would like to have a go, don’t be
afraid; just come along and 'have a go'.
They are all amateurs and are
interested in anyone wishing to join
them in any capacity. Rehearsals are at
The Cultural Centre Quesada Mondays
&
Thursdays. They are a fun group
aiming to raise money for local
charities. Newcomers would be made
very welcome.
The group will be once more be in
costume on the train with Santa when
he arrives at The Christmas Shop SAN
LUIS 28th November. This would be a
good time for anyone interested in
joining them to buy tickets, to ask
questions or just have a chat Anyone
