Natural Parks offer three new routes
The La Mata and Torrevieja Natural
Parks will be offering three trails
offering natural, cultural and tourism
values. The routes start on October 25th
and although free, registration is
required to participate as numbers for
each session are limited to 50. Expert
guides accompany visitors on these
routes and they will be conducted in
Spanish, English and French.
Pentapartito Councillor for Tourism
and Environment, Fanny Serrano
announced the new guided tours of the
Natural Parks of the Lagunas de La Mata
and Torrevieja accompanied by the
Regional Director of Environment,
Carmen Catala who offered: "full
cooperation to the City for such
initiatives."
Local biologist Juan Antonio Pujol,
said that the three routes have been
developed in order to raise awareness
of the natural, cultural and tourism
values of the Park. Pujol detailed the
content of each of the routes. In the
first, called "Birds of the Nature Reserve"
about the birds that inhabit the park
throughout the year, visitors are taught
how to act as genuine ornithologists
and how they can fully enjoy the hides
to discover the birds on their own. This
tour is held on Sunday October 25th
and will be repeated on 19th December.

An amazing day was
had by all! On the 12th
October at Villamartin
Plaza, the place was
rocking to local acts and
bands who had come to
give their time and
support to the Artists For
Refugees cause. The
whole event was set up by
local bar and restaurant
owner Steve Ahmed who
almost single handily
orchestrated the whole
event. Steve commented
“We are all refugees, all
immigrants. We all come from other
countries and it seems horrific to me that
kids, people are dying for trying to do
something we take as our right. I had to
do something”. Well Steve – you did good
- they were literally rocking in the aisles at
Villamartin Plaza that crazy day.
Bryn Slack of The Streeters put
together an excellent non-stop show of
some of the Costas finest musicians –
something for everyone. Surprise guests
were saved till last with an impromptu
session with the members of several
bands all joining together on stage for a
spectacular. You missed a treat if you
were not there. Tim Taylor, Meet Laaf,
Backyard Session, The Streeters, Steve
Plant, Los Duques, Let It Roll and Kolted
rounding the night off beginning with an
acoustic set then inviting two former
band members – now with Monos - on
stage and then inviting The Streeters up
on stage too. It seemed like the plaza
erupted with almost everyone on their
feet.
Local artists including Art Of Corax
auctioned off their canvasses, all painted
for the event, in aid of the cause and the
raffle seemed to go on forever with so
many prizes donated. The top prize
donated by La Bocana Watersports
Centre in Torrevieja of a Cable Ski session
went to former league footballer Glenn
Jones, now living in Spain. Mariella Slack
did an excellent job depriving people of
their money for raffle tickets – who could
resist Mariella’s charm?
There are a number of collection tins
still out until the end of October and The
Hen’s teeth are collecting until the end of
the month, there are also a number of
sponsored events running until the end
of the month. On the day, nearly €2000
was raised with many of the bars in the
plaza donating cash and or prizes. A final
total will be announced at the end of the
month. You can also still donate via the
Artists For Refugees Facebook page. All
the monies raised go to help charities on
the ground such as MOAS – who operate
boats to rescue people from the water,
Save The Children who provide blankets,
food and Casitas who also provide
shelter, clothes and comfort.

the tourist office in Paseo Vista Alegre.
The routes will be conducted in Spanish,
English and French, with a maximum of
50 participants per day.
ADAPT (The Association of English
Speakers) of San Pedro del Pinatar has
organised a presentation, in English, by
the Guardia Civil Tráfico officer behind
the highly successful N332 initiative to
assist English speakers with Spanish
Traffic Law and safety on the roads. They
will be making a presentation entitled
“Spanish Traffic Law. Changes and Most
Common Doubts”, for ADAPT members
on Wednesday 21st October 09:45 for
10:00 in the Casa de Cultura in San Pedro
del Pinatar.
Anyone is welcome to attend but
there is a limited number of seats
available for this presentation. Because
of this, anyone interested in attending
should email the Secretary of ADAPT to
request
a
seat
at:
[email protected]. A map of
location of the Casa de Cultura will be
sent by reply. The presentation is free, but
a small donation for the El Samaritano
charity in San Pedro del Pinatar, from
those attending would be warm ly
accepted when exiting the event.
Please note that the preference is for
questions or other clarifications to be
sent to the Secretary of ADAPT for
compilation and forwarding to N332 and
they will then publish this on their
website with correct answers. This means
that the widest possible audience can
read and learn. It would then be accurate
information spread as wide as possible
for the good of everyone. Anyone
wishing to attend is asked to please
confirm their intention by email to the
ADAPT Secretary. Otherwise there may
be a risk of not being allowed entry on
the day due to exceeding the permitted
number in the auditorium.
