12 CoastRider CoastRider - Edition 569 - Edition - October 470 20th - March 2015 5thwww.coastridersl.com 2013 Crevillente doubles fines for driving drunk or under the influence of drugs The City Council in Crevillente has adapted the traffic ordinance that sets a penalty of up to 1,000 euros for driving drunk or under the influence of drugs. The new traffic ordinance and circulation have entered into force with new penalties for certain offences, with the aim of improving road safety and reducing the number of accidents. The City Council has adapted this new ordinance to Law 6/2014 on Traffic, Motor Vehicle Traffic and Road Safety. The new regulation will toughen penalties for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In the first case, the penalty will amount to 1,000 euros (previously 500 euros) and alcohol consumption, the fine of EUR 500 is maintained, but could reach 1,000 euros if the rate doubles the maximum allowed or for repeat offenders in a year. The use of radar inhibitors or detectors will be fined 200 euros and the loss of three license points. Penalties are also increased to vehicles causing damage to the road infrastructure or alterations of circulation by their weight or dimensions. Also, the mandatory use of helmet approved for bicycle users is established.
