How do you keep yourself up-to-date on
advances in the science of coaching?
“Neurosciences are progressing fast, links between social science disciplines are growing and
coaches are bubbling with creativity. Indeed, it is a challenge to keep abreast of the latest
advances in the science of coaching to better serve my clients!
“I find that my network of fellow coaches is an invaluable source of information. In
France we are lucky to have a very active ICF Chapter that organizes regular events, giving us
access to high-caliber experts and coaches nationally and internationally. Over the past year,
I have been able to experience original approaches such as coaching with horses, outdoor
coaching in nature and mindfulness practices, to name but a few.”
—Estelle Mironesco, ACC (France)
“I keep a regular flow of information coming in from a variety of sources about coaching
and related fields. I subscribe to a number of blogs and websites that curate some
of that information for me and also regularly keep tabs in coaching community forums.
However, the best way I have found to keep up-to-date on information is by building strong
relationships with a community of coaches that I respect. This is where ICF reigns supreme:
I am continuously amazed by the ICF community and how much great information you can
learn by just asking. The ICF Research Portal is pretty great too, once you figure out how
to use it.”
—Rey Castellanos, ACC (USA)
“To keep myself up-to-date on the advances in the science of coaching, I read articles about
the subject published by different universities around the world. Whenever the opportunity
comes I also do my best to attend conferences, workshops and lectures (virtual and
in-person) to widen my knowledge. But the easiest way for me to keep myself updated
on a daily basis is to follow relevant pages on social media and frequently visit ICF Global’s
website to see what’s new on this important topic.”
