o Baltimore Ravens linebacker Lamar Louis, rooting for the underdog comes as naturally as picking off a pass or sacking a quarterback. He has a soft spot for anyone who’s willing to fight against overwhelming odds and rise to the occasion. The reason is simple: he considers himself part of that group. “I’ve been an underdog pretty much all my life. I’m still an underdog,” said the 5-11, 232-pound Louis, who’s entering his second season in the NFL after signing as an undrafted free agent out of LSU in 2016. That’s why, when he was recently approached about becoming a brand ambassador for IMV Gaming, the decision to say yes was easy. The company was founded in 2016 by Alex and Cameron Lewis, two cousins who share a passion for gaming. Their vision is to create games everyone loves, including one geared toward college football fans. The cousins sent direct messages to professional athletes in baseball, football, basketball and boxing, looking for support. Louis was the first to sign up. His role is to help recruit investors and create buzz about the game through Twitter and other social media platforms. “I love their tenacity and their will to get the game rolling,” Louis said. “Anybody who has a vision and who’s going to work hard for it, even being the underdog, I have to respect that.” The process allowing gaming companies to feature college athletes in their products has Coach & Player Magazine • Summer 2017 17
