Harold and Willa Chambers, Resident of the Month Harold and Willa Chambers Willa was born March 22, 1929, to John and Nell Bazzel in Iuka, Miss. She is the only child, which doesn’t mean she was spoiled, just pampered. At the age of five, she and her parents moved to Vicksburg, Miss., where she lived until she graduated from college. After her college graduation, she moved to Bolivar. Willa and Jim, her first husband who passed away several years ago, adopted a daughter, Willa Ann. Harold was born August 23, 1927 in Berkley, Mich. While growing up in Harold had three sisters and two brothers. Harold has two sons and two daughters from a previous marriage. In 2001, while attending one of the many activities at the Bolivar Senior Center, Willa and Harold met. Shortly after their initial meeting, the couple ran into one another at the local Baptist Church Meet and Greet. Three months later, the couple were married in an intimate ceremony at the Bolivar Southern Baptist Church and have spent every day together since. Willa recalls the night they were married, the couple celebrated by going to dinner at the Country Buffet restaurant in Springfield. “We were still all dressed up in our wedding clothes and when we were seated. The head waiter came to our table, got down on one knee, held our hands and sang to us,” Willa said with a smile. “He didn’t even know it was our honeymoon!” Some of the things the Chambers like about CMHCF are meeting all the new friends, the home-like atmosphere, and all the choices they have. Both agreed that the spaghetti and salad dinner is their favorite meal. Congratulations Harold and Willa Chambers, on being chosen CMHCF’s May Residents of the Month.
