Anna Haire,
Resident of the Month
Anna was born Jan. 17, 1935, to Joe and Hil-
da Matthews. Anna has one brother and six sis-
ters and they went to school in Clarendon, Texas.
Anna worked in a dime store and was a built
in babysitter to all of her siblings. She also
worked at Western Auto for one year.
Anna married her husband Winfred July 3,
1951. To this union was born one son, Clay Jr.,
who passed away in a motorcycle accident in
1971, and one daughter who lives near Bolivar.
Anna has two grand-daughters and two great-granddaughters.
“When I first came to CMHCF I told my Doctor that I was going to get
out of here, buy a carton of cigarettes and get under a thorn bush where no
one could get to me and stay there until I smoked as many cigarettes as I
wanted, said Anna.
Anna went with her daughter on a 10 day trip in her semi, crossing
through many states. The two saw many sites on that trip, including the Salt
Lake in Utah. She said “while riding in the semi, I felt that we were going
way too fast so I asked my daughter to slow down but Barbara said if she did
they would get ran over.
Anna came to live with us in May, 2017. Anna enjoys meeting many dif-
ferent people here at CMHCF and calls all the girls who work here her girls.
She also enjoys people watching. Thank you Anna for being our Resident of
the Month.
