Edith Jackson, Resident of the Month When you first see Edith, you are immediately drawn to her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. She has Red “Lucy” hair and always looks beautiful. Edith was born on Dec. 6, 1929, in Hamilton, Mo., to Alva and Margaret Spidle. Growing up, Edith had three brothers and five sisters. She and her siblings attended school at Kingston and Polo. She remembers her first car was a Blue Chevy. Although she can’t recall its exact year, she can remember the freedom it gave her. Edith Jackson Edith met, and eventually married John E. Jackson, Jr. The couple had three children: her sons, Mike and Len, and her “favorite” daughter, Linda. Edith has since been blessed with seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Edith kept busy raising her children and running the household. In her spare time, she was very active and served as a Cub Scout mom. When her children grew up, Edith took a job at with the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. While there, she was responsible for checking I.D.’s and purses. “At times, I would even work in the laundry department,” Edith said with a smile. “There were times when the machines would break down, and I would help the laundry lady because no one else would want to.” Edith has had the opportunity to travel all over the United States. Of all her travels, her fondest memories were those from Colorado. Edith loves to snack on chocolates (we promised not to tell about her stash). She also enjoys to eat pecan and cherry pie. According to Edith, her favorite color is red. At CMHCF, she enjoys watching shows like Law & Order and NCIS. Congratulations on Edith, on being chosen CMHCF’s June Resident of the Month.
