CLUNES BUSINESSES SATURDAY LITERARY LUNCH AUTHORS: ‘I once went to a lunch with Bill Clinton. Well, actually, I sold his autobiography at a stall outside and ate with the cooks, while lots of people in suits filled a very large hall. But it was pretty obvious that only about 10 people sat at a table with Bill. The other 2,000 people sat in the back blocks, ate an expensive meal and waited for the speech. I don’t think any of them, in any real sense, had lunch with Bill Clinton. One of our aims at the Clunes Booktown Festival is to create opportunities for real connection. We want you to enjoy the deeper, slower experience of immersing yourself in a small country town, in book browsing and in the many talks, workshops and entertainers on offer. Staying true to this vision, at this year’s festival we’re giving you the chance to sit down to a delicious three-course meal with one of the authors you’ve read and admired, and giving our authors the chance to have lunch with you'.
