Kiwi Can Programme - We were pleased to be able to co-sponsor a Kiwi Can programme at the East Gore Primary School. Our sponsorship was made up of a Foundation District Grant along with a club contribution. Kiwi Can is one of the programmes run by the Foundation for Youth Development which is a child and youth development charity that is building a positive, vibrant and successful New Zealand by growing great kiwi kids. Sale and delivery of pea straw - We sell and deliver pea straw in autumn each year. Generous donations of baled pea straw from member Mike and the purchase of additional supplies has meant involvement of most members and other volunteers in the various aspects of the project - negotiating the purchase, stockpiling, advertising, receiving and collating the orders. Nevis Valley 4WD Trip - In February 2016, 28 members and family from the Gore Rotary Club were guided through the Nevis Valley by John Douglas. Departing from Garston at 10am and arriving at Bannockburn for an evening meal. We had a picnic lunch amongst some of the historic stone buildings and a couple of short walks, taking in the unique scenery and altered landscape from the 1800s gold mining, sluicing and dredging. The trip was enjoyed by all and completed with a couple of beers and a great meal at the Bannockburn Hotel. 13
