The purpose of this organization is to foster the advancement of photographic knowledge and techniques amongst the club members; and to have fun! Members meet to display, critique and discuss photography in a friendly atmosphere. Visitors are always welcome. Members meet on the second Monday of each month at the Lyons District restored Railroad Depot. Membership is open to any individuals, regardless of amateur or professional standing, who are interested in actively advancing his/her knowledge of photographic techniques and actively participating in club activities. This 29,800 square foot performing arts center was built entirely with private donations, a Vision Iowa grant program and with Gary Drew leading volunteer labor. More than 900 families, individuals and businesses donated financial assistance, volunteered their labor and loaned or donated equipment and materials to complete the project. The Ohnward Fine Arts Center of Maquoketa officially opened in December of 2004. With the help of over 95,000 volunteer hours and $900,000 in little and big donations, the community of Maquoketa built this state-of-the-art Ohnward Fine Arts Center without the use of a single city or school tax dollar. The amenities of the Kopel Theatre include 841 permanent seats, a 35 x 70 stage area, 4 dressing rooms, 2 backstage restrooms, a Yamaha Conservatory Grand piano, a 12,000 watt, 40 channel sound system and computer controlled lighting spots. The Drew Art Gallery has 850 square feet of display wall space and is a 3,600 square foot exhibition area. During the year, classes and workshops, taught by local teachers and well-known artists, are held in painting, pottery, ceramics and drawing. The Clinton Art Association also sponsors annual events, including a bus trip to the Art Institute of Chicago and other galleries of interest, plus a local Garden Walk, held the 4th Sunday in June.
