Glittering prizes
This Palmerston North home won the Registered Master Builders
House of the Year Award 2012 for Manawatu, and that
wasn’t the only prize for Fowler Homes
Attention to detail is one of
the prerequisites for a new
home builder. But it wasn’t just
the client who benefitted from
this project – the builder scored
a wealth of prizes.
Fowler Homes (Manawatu),
which is locally owned and
operated by directors Shane
Walker and Megan Walker,
won the supreme award at
the annual Manawatu Regis-
tered Master Builders House
of the Year Awards. The home
took out the 2012 House of the
Year Award, and a number of
additional awards, including
winner of the Gold Award
and Craftsmanship Award,
and Category Winner of New
Homes $600,000-$1 million.
Fowler Homes also won
awards for several other pro-
jects, making this the firm’s
most successful year to date.
The house that received the
top honours is a six-bedroom
executive home built for
clients who love to enter-

the Rockcote Integra AAC
masonry panel system. This is
a cavity-based plaster cladding
system applied over light-

that help to create a dry zone
in the building facade, and a
robust wall structure.
The front entry features
panels of Alucobond composite
aluminium cladding.
However, it is the dramatic
architecture
and
interior
detailing that catches the eye.
Twin gabled forms give the
house a formal symmetry
that is echoed by the grand
staircase inside the entry. This
features American ash railings
and a wrought iron balustrade.
Other key elements include
polished marble floors, fluted
