What is your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment was navigating the diagnosis, decline, and ultimate death of my father due to pancreatic cancer. [Those] were 13 of the hardest months of my life. The support of my practice, especially meditation, along with the support of my stepmother, husband, mother, and friends allowed me to journey through his final months fully present and full of love. It’s rare for people to die and to have no regrets. I credit my practice with gifting me the fullness of this experience and allowing me to let him go with a full heart and not a single regret. What strategies did you use when you wrote your book, Holistic Yoga Flow: The Path of Practice? Do you have any tips for those who would like to write their own book one day? Writing a book is not an easy feat. You have to make yourself sit down and write, no matter what. There will be days when you do not feel inspired. In those moments it’s easy to tell yourself you’ll wait until inspiration comes, but still, you have to sit down and remain committed to the process. I approached it much as I approached writing a college paper and assigned myself blocks of time each day, as if I were doing homework. It felt rigid and strict at times but it worked! Sit down and just start writing; the inspiration will flow! What is your favorite yoga pose? Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana, or King Pigeon Pose! I fell in love with this posture during my first teacher training. I was stunned by my body’s ability to fold into the posture with such ease and joy. Much of this has to do with my anatomy because there are still more postures than not that challenge both my strength and natural flexibility, but this is one where I have always felt freedom and strength, stability and poise. Can you tell me more about what Inner Dimension TV is and how it works? Inner Dimension TV is our cinematic online platform for yoga and meditation classes and programs. Members enjoy a variety of styles of yoga, plus meditation & pranayama (yogic breathing). When you join, you receive access to four unique programs: our popular 30-minute, 30-day Yoga 30 for 30, my 10-day yoga program Journey to Yoga, a 28-day introduction to yoga for beginners, and Meditation 101. We add new classes almost every week and we have a new program coming out in June! To join, visit InnerDomainMedia.com and sign up for a 10-day free trial, then pay a monthly rate of $14.95 for unlimited access to all content, plus two free audio guided meditations! What was the inspiration behind starting Inner Dimension TV and why was that the right platform for what you were trying to accomplish? My husband and fellow teacher, Travis Eliot, and I created Inner Dimension TV because we felt something was missing in the online yoga and meditation space. Through IDM TV we are able to offer yoga that is physical while also spiritually uplifting. Our style of teaching helps students realize the intersection between their practice and their daily lives. With this new platform, we are able to create content anytime while meeting the needs of our growing community. Most importantly, each quarter, 10% of the proceeds go to charity so every membership makes a difference in helping to support women’s education around the globe, the global hunger crisis, social justice, and the environment. How has your online platform, Inner Dimension TV, inspired others? Watching Inner Dimension TV spread across the world has been inspiring and humbling. While there are many stories, my favorite is of a mother who had abandoned her practice. Upon learning about our Yoga for Beginners program, she joined. Since then, she has gone on to enjoy my more advanced program, Journey to Yoga, as well as our 28-day Meditation 101 program, which introduces people to mindfulness meditation. Watching people rediscover the love for their practice is one of the most inspiring experiences to be a part of. It’s especially inspiring to know that IDM TV is helping to support families in experiencing greater love and serenity in their homes. What are your next steps and goals for the future? Through Inner Dimension TV, I intend to develop and share more inspiring yoga and meditation programs, as well as individual classes, to help people live happier, healthier, more fulfilling lives. My goal is to create content and practices people feel truly supported by as they continue their personal journeys toward living with deeper connection, compassion, and purpose. Over the next year I will also begin writing a new book and hopefully, in the not so far future, take on my greatest role yet, motherhood! ... yoga granted me the capacity to navigate life with a roadmap for healthier, more equanimous living. www.clichemag.com 29
