Experts are trying to make sense of the United States withdrawal of the Paris climate deal. Reactions to Trump’s pullout of the international carbon emissions agreement were different across the U.S. Pittsburgh reaffirmed its goal to use 100 percent renewable energy by 2035. Pittsburgh wants to work to move towards 100 percent clean and renewable energy for the future, their economy, and people. Environmentally conscious millennials expressed their disapproval. The stock market didn’t immediately have any issues and the Oil and coal companies were likely happy about the news of the Paris withdrawal.
Many Americans are very concerned about Climate Change. Former Vice President Al Gore called Trump’s decision a “reckless and indefensible action.” The Obama administration pledged to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 26-28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025. Even some Republicans said that Trump shouldn’t back out of the Paris Deal and should just lower the U.S.’s commitment.
