INDUSTRYNEWS ‘MEET THE BUYER’ BOOSTS BUSINESS FOR SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL SYSTEMS To celebrate the success of a joint business initiative, Senior Architectural Systems welcomed Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster and Councillor Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration to their Denaby site in South Yorkshire recently. Back in 2011, Senior took part in a ‘meet the buyer’ event organised by the council’s ‘Business Doncaster’ team and Wates Construction. As a result, Senior’s aluminium window, door and curtain wall systems were chosen as the preferred product specification, to meet performance criteria for the construction of the new £10.7 Campsmount Technology College, situated midway between Knottingley and Doncaster in South Yorkshire. Picture (L-R): Mark Wadsworth, Commercial Director at Senior, Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, Bernard Harrison, Technical Services Manager for Homes by Senior, Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration Following complete destruction of the original school by an electrical fire, Campsmount College was a pilot project for both cost-saving reforms and for Wates Construction’s Adapt Schools Solution design approach. Specification of Senior Aluminium Systems by CPMG Architects, installation by Doncaster fabricators Danum Windows Ltd, ensured that both the cost and performance needs of the 7,500 m2 project were comfortably met. Completed in 2013, the project set out key recommendations for the future efficient delivery of educational buildings. The visitors were shown around Senior’s 150,000 sq ft headquarter Denaby site including state-of-the-art powder coating and warehousing facilities, home to a multitude of innovative aluminium, composite aluminium/timber and fibreglass systems. Mark Wadsworth, Commercial Director at Senior Architectural Systems Ltd, said “It’s fantastic that the council’s ‘meet the buyer’ event enabled us to develop a close working relationship with Wates Construction, which has led to ongoing business opportunities. Our continued growth means we are now able to offer apprenticeships to several local youngsters, giving them a tremendous start in life.’ Doncaster Mayor, Ros Jones said “I am delighted to see a local company expanding and taking on new apprentices.” DIARY DATES Ecobuild, The FIT Show 2014, 12th ESG Conference, 4th – 6th March 2014, ExCel, London. 10th – 12th June 2014, Telford International Centre, 21st – 24th September 2014, Parma, Italy North American Aluminum Trends 2014, 17th – 19th March 2014, Florida, USA.
