INDUSTRYNEWS GGF TRAINING OFFERS NEW MTC INITIATIVE GGF Training, the training body for the glazing sector established by the Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF), has announced that an additional option has become available to installers and surveyors wishing to become compliant with the Minimum Technical Competence (MTC) regulations. This new option is an extension to the Existing Qualification route to compliance, and takes the form of a Continued Professional Development (CPD) module. The CPD option has been approved as an effective means of demonstrating compliance with MTC and will be appropriate for installers and surveyors that achieved an NVQ more than five years ago. Before this option became available it would have been necessary for such installers to obtain a new NVQ, or take the Industry Experience route to compliance. ‘an additional option’ Jon Vanstone, Director of GGF Training, welcomed the initiative: “This solution is ideal for those who already have a qualification which simply needs updating to bring it in line with MTC requirements. We are delighted that this option has been approved; saving installers with a historical qualification money and time. The addition of content covering upto-date Building Regulations will refresh and update the knowledge of these installers and surveyors, making them MTC compliant.” The CPD update for installers and surveyors with a qualification over five years old can be taken online or by attending live CPD presentations at the upcoming FIT Show (Telford, 10-12 June.)
