ALUMINIUM NEW OPEN OUT WINDOW SYSTEM IS SUPER-INSULATED The tried-and-tested AWS range of outwardopening aluminium windows from Schueco UK has now been extended by the addition of a new system, the Schueco AWS 75.SI. This new window offers superb design flexibility and benefits from a number of optimised features, which help it set new standards in thermal insulation. With a face-width of 111 mm, Schueco AWS 75.SI can achieve a Uf value of 1.3 W/(m2K) and a Uw value as low as 0.91 W(m2K), figures which will not only comfortably exceed the new Document L 2013 regulations but which make it one of the highest performing aluminium outwardopening window systems in the UK. In addition, the new window, part of a modular range currently available in frame depths ranging from 50 mm to 70 mm, offers excellent security thanks to Schueco’s own multi-point locking system. The generous weight capacity of the concealed friction hinges or optional butt hinges, combined with the robust frame profiles, means that both double- and tripleglazed units may be accommodated. The Gloucester-based firm has developed an in-house performance calculator, which is covered by Initial Type Testing (ITT) from BSI. It calculates the thermal transmission of its Fineline range of aluminium windows and doors against EN14351-1:2006. Markus Springer, group product development manager at Customade, said: “We are naturally delighted to have been approved to calculate the thermal performance of our Fineline windows independently of a notified body. This exciting move underlines our commitment to lead the industry with technical expertise, innovation a nd a strong focus on customer service. “I am pleased to see the focus back on the U-value rather than the window energy rating. The demand for lower U-values in construction products will stimulate change within the building industry, in terms of new products and new construction details. However, it is not just about product performance; customers also demand products that are aesthetically pleasing and user friendly. Our Fineline system satisfies those desires,” he added.
