DOORS&WINDOWS THE DISTINCTION DIFFERENCE IS CLEAR As the UK’s composite door market leader, you would expect Distinction Door’s composite door to offer an excellent benefits package. But it is the attention to detail that really sets it apart and the door’s glazing cassette is the perfect example. For homeowners, the Distinction Difference is clear because the cassette has been designed to offer a seamless, high quality finish. There are no unsightly screws or plugs, no compromise on security. The white, black, red, blue and green solid colour cassettes are through-coloured, so are robust and tolerant to knocks and scratches. The pre-stained colours perfectly match the composite door colours, ensuring a consistent high quality finish. Attention to detail is also evident in the moulding design and grain effect, both designed to complement the composite door. Distinction Doors offers 12 glass ranges all but one triple glazed. For fabricator and installers, the cassette is easy to fit because it simply snaps together, cutting down installation time. It is also reversible because each assembly consists of an identical inner and outer cassette, both with symmetrical male and female connectors. It can also conceal interior views from outside. Chris Dolan, Director of Marketing, North America Flat Glass for Guardian Industries, says: “Guardian Spandrel HT brings improved uniformity and appearance to spandrel glass with a higher opacity and less potential for streaking, giving a smooth, matte finish. Architects can now specify a complete vision and spandrel glass package alongside Guardian SunGuard high performance, low-E coatings. “For our fabricators, Guardian offers convenience with stock sheets that can be tempered by the customer as needed and easily cut into final sizes.” Guardian uses a proprietary coating system for the SunGuard Spandrel HT. During heattreating, the coating bonds to the glass, after heat treating, Spandrel HT is permanently fused to the glass surface and has the characteristics of a ceramic frit. Aluminium sector continues to grow, says CDW MD The aluminium industry continues to grow, offering more opportunities for installers in this sector. This is the view of Jerry Webb, Managing Director of CDW Systems - an aluminium specialist that recently supplied windows and doors for the multi-million pound construction of apartments on the island of Guernsey. CDW Systems worked with Guernsey Glass & Window Co 44 JUL 2014 Ltd on a new high end residential development called One St Julians, which has both local and open market apartments. The fenestration works consisted of curtain walling, dual colour SAPA dual-frame windows; and commercial and residential aluminium entrance doors. Many of the windows were curved and dual colour marine grey and white. The project is now complete, with some of the apartments on the market for multi million pound figures. CDW and Guernsey Glass regularly collaborate on projects. Guernsey Glass’ MD, Chris Wrench comments: “We’re regularly selected for the very best projects and we like to work with CDW Systems because they have the experience, products and support to ensure everything goes smoothly. They know the aluminium market inside out.” 01452 414853or visit www. cdwsystems.co.uk To read more, visit www.clearview-uk.com
