CLADDING FIRM IN ADMINISTRATION Cheshire based building envelope specialist Red Architectural is in administration. The firm’s production and fabrication division, Red Aluminium, is also now in the hands of administrators from Deloitte. Red’s existing contracts are expected to be traded-out within weeks as the business is wound-down. More than 50 jobs are believed to be at risk. A Deloitte spokeswoman said: “Deloitte has been appointed as administrator to Red Architectural Ltd and Red Aluminium Ltd. “We are currently advising staff and customers, and will provide further information in due course. “However, at this stage we do anticipate that trading out existing contracts will be short term only prior to an orderly wind down of the business.” Red has worked with a host of main contractors including Mace, Bowmer & Kirkland, Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Wates. Latest results show the company had a turnover of £29.7m for the year to March 2013 when it made a pre-tax profit of £47,000. Traditional Christmas cards are usually the order of the day throughout the festive month of December, but at Synseal it was more about arrow keys and fun-filled evil trolls thanks to the system supplier’s online game “Christmas Rescue”. In 2012 Synseal took the bold decision to send seasonal greetings via an online game instead of posting hundreds of boring old Christmas cards. Known as “Fat Santa”, the entertaining pudding-munching game proved to be a huge success throughout December with many players across the industry competing with one another, each of them trying to rise to the summit of the Top 100 16 JAN 2014 victorious, racking up an awesome total of 162,250 points and beating over 600 posted scores along the way. ‘Fun-filled evil trolls’ league table – published online, this pecking order changed constantly due to the game’s popularity.
