INSTALLERsupport Emplas prepare to ‘change the game’ Emplas has announced ambitious plans to redefine industry expectations of service and support with a major announcement due shortly. The Northamptonshire fabricator says it is its intention to shake-up the lead generation, marketing and sales support offered by fabricators and systems companies to retail businesses. Mike Crewdson, Sales and Marketing Director, Emplas, which published the findings of its consumer product survey in June, said the company was preparing to ‘change the game’. He said: “The support that installers get from fabricators and systems companies isn’t good enough and we’re going to change that. “What we’re going to be doing over the coming weeks is to re-double our efforts with what we believe will be a game-changing new scheme.” A poll last year revealed that Emplas’ product quality was rated good or excellent by 98.7 per cent of its customers compared to an industry average of 79.2 per cent. It also scored an enviable 99.3 per cent figure for complete and on time deliveries compared to an 84.6 per cent industry average. www.emplas.co.uk or call 01933 674880. Assure way for all competent persons to self-certify The UKAS-accredited Assure Competent Persons Scheme is proving itself to increasingly popular, as more installers make the move to become Assureregistered. Austin Greene (Technical and Compliance Manager for Network VEKA’s Assure) explains: “Many installers have told us they have become unsatisfied with their existing competent persons’ scheme providers. “At Assure, we strive to make the whole process simple and straightforward which our installers really appreciate. We offer all the training, seminars and advice that our installers need to make sure everything runs smoothly.” Austin’s jargon-free and accessible methods, offer a no-nonsense approach to guiding installers through the changes in legislation when self-certifying. Dennis Sumner, MD of Force8 commented: “We joined Assure after a particularly difficult situation with another self-certification body. Austin really helped us out, despite us not actually being an Assure member at the time - his advice was invaluable. Assure members have a wide range of benefits, including a dedicated Technical and Arbitration helpline and access to Insurance-Backed Guarantees, Green Deal Certification and FREE Level 2 NVQ Qualifications, as well as Assurebranded literature. Network VEKA, 01282 473170, www.networkveka.co.uk IS YOUR COMPANY JUDGED BY THE EXCELLENCE OF THE INSTALLER SUPPORT YOU OFFER? As was evident at this year’s successful FIT Show, many companies in the sector are increasingly recognising the importance and value of providing strong installer support to their customers. This can take many forms, from online technical support and guidance about products and broader issues to do with the latest legislation, rules and regulations and providing useful links. 68 AUG 2014 After all, even the best products demand knowledge and information if they are to be installed efficiently and avoid costly delays and call-backs. In marketing, professional help with brochure building and even web design is invaluable to busy installers. Technology is rocking on at such a pace these days, it is difficult to keep on top of all developments, so Smartphone apps and other techno advancements can be invaluable for people whose jobs mean they are mobile much of the time. Offering a range of support services under one banner is a useful way of helping installers. Total Glass, for example, a leading UK PVCu and aluminium fabricator, highlighted not just its comprehensive product range at FIT, but also what it calls its “one stop shop” for installers – whatever the size and scope of their businesses.
