INDUSTRYNEWS Polyframe – The largest fleet in the industry? When you fabricate in excess of 10,000 frames per week, you need to guarantee that all deliveries are covered. With four factories and a nationwide network of 14 trade centres, the logistics of organising nationwide deliveries on a five day lead time is a serious business. As a result Polyframe recently invested in six, new 18-ton trucks, one new 7.5-ton truck and two new 3.5-ton Luton vans, taking the total number of vehicles in the fleet to over 30. Chris Watson, Group MD, commented, “The Polyframe fleet has grown beyond recognition over the past few years, from five or six vehicles five years ago to the staggering number we are at now. As a business we cover the whole of the UK and Ireland so we need to ensure that we can meet all our customers’ delivery schedules, on the tightest of lead times.” The new vehicles will be based at Halifax, Norwich and the Composite Door factory in Mansfield. Vehicles are central to Polyframe’s ‘Clearly Greener’ recycling scheme – all vehicles bring post-consumer waste back to their depots.
