GLASS&SEALEDUNITS SECONDARY GLAZING MAKES A COMEBACK »»SECONDARY GLAZING IS A product many may have forgotten. Popular in the 1970s, it was overtaken by the double glazing boom of the 80s and almost disappeared. But recently increased sensitivity to conservation issues means it’s making a quiet comeback. Fabricator, Incarnation Window Systems, noticed this trend. A spinoff from respected sash manufacturer, Roseview Windows, Incarnation watched the market grow with interest. And then it made its move. “At Roseview we saw a lot of heritage and conservation jobs,” comments Incarnation Director, Paul Bygrave. “We noticed more and more projects where replacement windows were not permitted - in listed buildings for instance. The problem for those building owners is that they want the benefits of double glazing, but without changing the windows. That’s where secondary glazing comes in.” Incarnation’s response was to launch two secondary glazing solutions: their Optimum and Classic Collections. window systems simple to survey simple to order “The Classic Collection is straightforward slimline secondary glazing,” Paul continues. “It’s perfect for smaller projects like individual homes.” In contrast, the recently launched Optimum Collection is completely new. “Optimum is different, and we’re really proud of it. We designed it from scratch to offer a strong, versatile solution for a wider range of projects. Among other things, that also allowed us to design it to handle slimline IGUs. That’s important because it means that original windows can now be triple glazed. We think it’s the first new secondary system to hit the market for 30 years.” But Incarnation is keen to point out that it’s not just product development that sets them apart. “Secondary glazing had a reputation for being hassle,” comments Paul, “but it doesn’t need to be like that. It’s a simple product; simple to sell, simple to quote and order, and simple to install.” Incarnation backs this up with everything an installer needs to sell and install their products, from technical information to marketing materials. “We’re here to make secondary glazing fast, simple and efficient - and profitable,” concludes Paul. “The way it should be.” www.incarnationwindows.co.uk secondary glazing simple to install simple to sell Secondary glazing is one of the fastest growing sectors in the industry, and offers simple sales with great profits.
