Hitting Hard in the
Aluminium Market
Nova Aluminium Systems has built a strong ethos over recent years to ensure
its customers receive excellent quality, an efficient customer service and most
importantly products that hit the right price point for its customers.
»»The company, based in Bristol
has been producing quality windows and
doors, using Smart aluminium profile system
for nearly 10 years. It currently operates
out of a purpose built factory unit in excess
of 40,000 square feet and employs over 50
staff.
The business was originally set up by Paul
Harvey and Paul Vickery, a pair who between
them have over 20 years industry experience,
working within a sales and production
capacity for a leading competitor.
Paul Vickery, Sales Director talks about the
developments they have already put in place
at Nova and their philosophy to drive the
company forward.
‘Quality, service
and hitting the right
price point for our
customers is at the
heart of Nova’
“Quality, service and hitting the right price
point for our customers is at the heart of
Nova. With a dedicated internal sales team
in place, we are set up to assist our trade
customers on commercial and domestic
projects, no matter what the scope or scale.
“We took a conscious decision when we
set up our business to deal direct with trade
customers only. This was to allow us the
opportunity to grow our business based on
one sales channel, concentrate our planning
and production methods around their leadtime requirements and ultimately offer our
customers what they wanted.
“As a consequence, we decided on a profile
system that we knew our customers had a
great deal of empathy towards, and where we
could grow our product offering using the
system.”

Using Smart aluminium profile system
has undoubtedly been a smart move for
Nova and the company has experienced an
unprecedented growth in the sales of their
products, now exceeding an annual turnover
of £4 million.
Paul continues, “From day one, we
received unconditional support from both the
company’s sales and technical teams, working
in partnership with our production team to
help introduce a full, extruded product range
and helping us to grow our sales.
“One example of this is Nova’s successful
recruitment of customers who previously only
supplied PVC-u products. Working alongside
Smart has given us the confidence to help
support these customers and help them extend
their product offering into new markets.”
Nova offers a full and comprehensive range
of products for domestic and commercial
markets including; shop fronts, curtain
walling, patio doors, bi-folding doors, a
complete range of windows; residential
and commercial doors and a wide range of
associated aluminium accessories.
Nova’s products are supplied in a variety of
RAL colour options and tested using British
Standard accreditation. The window and
door systems have varying glazing alternatives
ranging from 24mm up to a 33mm unit and
are also available using single glazed units.
One of Nova’s more successful introductions
to their range has been the Smart VisoFold 2000 bi-folding door system, with the
company experiencing a 50% increase in sales
since its launch.
Paul advises, “The Smart Viso-Fold 2000
bi-folding door system has not only provided
us with a good source of revenue, but has
given us the opportunity to add to our current
domestic offering. Aluminium products are
becoming more and more popular in this
market and with the vast amount of options
open to consumers now in aluminium, it
made sense for us to include the range as part
of our main portfolio.”
Nova offer the Viso-Fold 2000 bi-folding
door range in a variety of options, including
dual colouring. With a maximum height
range of 2.5 metres, it is an ideal solution for
customers servicing domestic and commercial
applications.
Nova is making plans for the expansion
of their business in the next 5 years and
investment has already begun in order for
them to grow the company further.
Paul explains, “We know the aluminium
door and window market is growing and
we are taking steps to ensure we grow with
the market. We have already purchased new
machinery to deal with increased capacity and
introduced new computer software which
helps link our sales orders and production
schedules to help us become more efficient.
“The introduction of the new machinery
means an expansion programme is well on
its way and we are in the process of securing
further factory space at a local site, increasing
our manufacturing floor size to an impressive
62,000 sq ft.
‘We intend to look at
both skilled and unskilled
personnel, offering a
series of on job training’
“A knock on effect of the expansion will
also mean a recruitment programme for local
residents, as we intend to look at both skilled
and unskilled personnel, offering a series of on
job training.” Paul concludes
Nova Aluminium Systems offers trade
customers the opportunity to build on their
current offering, especially PVC-u fabricators
who want the benefit of offering aluminium
products without the pressures of increasing
their own manufacturing facilities.
