Testing is essential to establish
the resistance of a product or
material to fire exposure in
line with British and European
standards (Fire Test Standards).
Testing demonstrates the ability
of the product or material
to withstand exposure to
a simulated fire in terms of
temperature, time and pressure
whilst maintaining its specific
function. From a glass point of
view, the glass and framing are
installed into a test furnace and
the temperature on the front of
the glass is measured giving an
Integrity Period based on the
length of time the glass remains
within its frame.

6: FIRAS CERTIFICATION
Fire-rated glass must only be used as
part of an appropriately approved glazing
system. Most people do not realise
that fire-rated glass is just one part of a
glazing system, frames, seals and glazing
products need to certified to be a fully
functional product. As such, the Fire
Glass UK fire-products quote sheet is
essential. Without this it would be bad
practise to supply glass knowing it will
not be installed correctly. Always use a
trusted company and get it right first
time. All fire-rated glass is stamped to tell
you what kind of glass is used.
FIRAS certification provides assurance to both contractor and client that all fire-rated
glass installations are carried out adequately and in accordance with industry standards and
manufacturer requirements. Fire Glass UK has an experienced and skilled team of FIRAS
approved installers. All work is closely controlled and monitored to ensure full compliance with
the current legislation, offering the security that both the product supplied and the method of
installation is fully certified and fit for purpose. All our fitters carry the relevant CSCS cards which
is backed up by our Chas and ConstructionLine Gold memberships.
