SEVENTHINGS ONE DECADE IN BUSINESS Seven Things You Didn’t Know About WW.FIREGLA W S Last year Fire Glass UK celebrated its first decade in business. Founded in 2008, by Managing Director Sean Haynes, Fire Glass UK started out as a single cutting bench in the corner of a small factory, focussing on providing fire-rated glass to the joinery, construction and glass industry, with just two employees. Fast forward ten years and it has grown into a market leader for fire-rated and specialist safety glass; now having over 100 employees across five successful branches nationwide. 1: FULLY-FOCUSSED ON PRODUCTS Fire Glass UK remains fully focussed to ensuring the company and its product catalogue continues to grow from strength to strength; offering a huge range of specialist glass which includes: fire-rated acoustic, laminated, toughened safety, IGUs, heritage units, silvered glass, cut glass, and integral blinds. All products supplied by Fire Glass UK meet or exceed all relevant standards meeting BS EN 12600 and BS EN 12150. Fire Glass UK has recently strengthened its position as one of the UK’s leading specialist glass suppliers by investing in a new Toughening Plant at its UK Branch, based in Oldbury. This latest investment compliments the current set up at the UK Branch and meets growing demand for toughened products. When looking at security needs, toughened glass is stronger than laminated glass and requires a far greater force to be shattered. Toughened glass achieves a Class 1C1 rating (depend¬ing on its thickness) when tested to BS EN 12600 (Class A under BS 6206). This is the highest rating for safety glass.
