HARDWARE& SECURITY The smarter way to secure sales »»YALE DOOR AND WINDOW Solutions has launched its Smart Living range of connected home security devices, providing a convenient, tailored solution for homeowners who want to control their home security anywhere, at anytime. In recent years, the idea of a ‘smart home’ has been much more prevalent. According to research commissioned by Yale*, consumer awareness of the smart home is high, with a good level of understanding of the primary features and benefits smart home technologies can bring. The survey, which reviewed 2,000 men and women in the UK, revealed that smart security is one of the most popular drivers for the smart home, with it showing as the second most important of five key drivers for the connected home, after smart energy. Paul Atkinson, Sales Director for Yale Door and Window Solutions, said, “Yale is in a strong position when it comes to the smart home market as research indicates that homeowners want to invest in brands they trust, rather than the latest technology. This was clearly revealed when the survey respondents were asked to name the leading brands in Smart Home Security, where Yale (18%) ranked much higher than Apple (11%), Google (8%) or Samsung (8%). “Yale is the name that people trust for home security and we are working with a number of key home automation partners, such as Samsung SmartThings, to provide the very best security protection for smart home customers. This is helping to increase demand for our partners in the door and window installation market, as well as providing them with a new lucrative revenue stream.” Yale is the expert in home security and its Smart Living range is the smart choice for trade installers looking to secure an increase in sales. It offers standalone security products including smart locks, alarms and CCTV, as well as a complete home security system, built around an intelligent smart security hub, which integrates with a wide range of modular accessories. The range can also integrate with leading smart technology providers, such as o2’s Digital Life platform and Samsung’s SmartThings, which makes it easy for homeowners if they already have a system in place or want to add devices at a later date. The survey also showed 62% of consumers expect remote locking of windows and doors to be a key feature of a smart home, with 51% expressing a strong interest in smart locks. What’s more, when it comes to fitting smart products, 40% of Brits surveyed said they would prefer professional installation, with 27% preferring “a mix of professional and DIY depending on how much technology is involved”, thus providing proactive trade installers with an opportunity to promote their services and increase sales by capitalising on this emerging market. Paul added, “We are already seeing considerable interest in the range, including the Keyfree Connected Smart Lock, which gives homeowners the freedom to secure their home without the need for a key. “Like all Yale products, the Keyfree Connected has undergone rigorous security testing to meet current security standards. We have invested in late configuration in the UK, allowing for local testing so that our fabricator and installer partners can feel confident in the new technology, along with a flexible stock offering.” The Yale Keyfree Connected Smart Lock has a tamper alarm and incorrect PIN code feature, as well as being Secured by Design approved. It allows homeowners to access their home remotely, with the option to use a PIN code, remote fob, or even a smartphone when connected to a smart home system. Compatible with either a Z-Wave wireless module or a Yale wireless module, the Keyfree Connected forms part of a total smart home solution. The Yale module allows users to connect the lock to the Yale Smart Home Alarm and CCTV systems, which can then be controlled via the free Yale app, while the Z-Wave module allows for connectivity with compatible smart home systems, such as Samsung SmartThings. The Yale Keyfree Connected also comes with a mechanical override cylinder and is designed for professional installation only, which provides a lucrative opportunity. The complete Yale Smart Living range includes, Keyfree and Keyless Connected smart locks, Easyfit and Smart Home Alarms, the Smart HD CCTV systems, and the Digital Door Viewers. www.yaledws.co.uk *A survey of 2,000 UK adults was carried out for Yale UK, by OnePoll, a member of ESOMAR, July 2015. 96 » M AY 2016 » CL EARVI E W- UK .
