GLASS&SEALEDUNITS The Good All-Rounder »»SPECIALIST TOUGHENED safety glass manufacturer, TuffX often grabs the headlines for supplying the glass on high profile commercial projects, but its expertise is equally often called on for domestic projects. This expertise was perfectly demonstrated in a recent project for a home in Chester. The home’s owners needed glass for a balustrade and a juliet balcony. Ultra Grey tinted glass was specified to give an understated, sophisticated finish that would blend in with the rest of the brick façade rather than being a focal point. The installers turned to TuffX for help with the glass. The TuffX team recommended 10mm Ultra Grey tinted toughened balcony glass because that would provide the sleek finish the homeowner’s wanted as well as meet all the safety requirements. TuffX supplied approx. 5m2 for the installer to fit and the result has given the residence the elegant, streamlined look the homeowners wanted while also making sure the occupants will be safe. TuffX’s balcony glass range, up to 19mm thick, is manufactured to the BS EN 12150 standard using state-of-the-art engineering technology at the company’s Merseyside base. The company is also renowned for its customer-oriented approach. www.tuffxglass.co.uk Responding to Demand »»THE RECENT GROWTH IN apartment living and new build development in general featuring grey windows and doors has inspired growing demand for an exclusive shade of grey slats inside Uni-Blinds® integral blinds from Morley Glass & Glazing. Ian Short, Morley Glass & Glazing managing director said: “Grey RAL 7016 seems to have established itself as the most popular grey of all the major colours for powder coated aluminium and particularly bi-folding doors. In the last 12 months alone demand for this colour has increased by 18% demonstrating that it is a practical, stylish and neutral looking alternative to white and many other colour options.” Being permanently sealed within the cavity of the doubled glazed units makes Uni-Blinds® the only viable option for privacy and light/ shade control in bi-folding and sliding doors.
