FIT SHOW 2016 IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR 34 M AY 2 01 6 lec ta S ys Se no doubt come across Midlands based profile system specialists, Selecta’s stand. The company is a massive advocate and no stranger to industry exhibitions and with 30 years of trading and selling products to fabricators and installers the business is moving into a new phase of reinventing itself and how it is perceived in the marketplace. Mark Walker, marketing and design manager at Selecta talked to Clearview about the company’s voyage and how it took the opportunity at FIT to tell visitors all about its plans. “We are now and have always been a family ran business, and after 30 years of trading the organisation has evolved and grown into one of the industry’s more recognised brands within the fenestration market. “Our company ethos has always been driven by the family values held by the organisation and in the past Selecta has been seen, in my opinion as the smaller profile manufacturer; seeking out and trading with only small to medium sized fabricators. However, our strategy was that of growth, investment in our customers and allowing them to develop with us. This strategy has given us the ability to develop and nurture our products alongside our customers needs, tailoring our business to understand what helps them grow,” adds Mark. The manufacture of profile has always been at the core of Selecta’s business and its Advanced 70 window and door system again this year took centre stage on its stand at the show, however the company is advancing, and Mark commented on the new opportunities they are now offering customers if they choose to use Selecta. Mark continued: “We are showcasing our improved bi-fold door system, Masterfold and successful Masterslide Patio door system on our stand. Masterfold is designed using a slim-line profile and available up to 5200mm wide and 2150mm high, complete with an ultra-low 26mm aluminium threshold and a choice of inward or outward openings; the system is elegant in design and effortless in operation. “Our patio door system, Masterslide, is available in three pane configurations; two, tems »»Visitors to this year’s FIT show will have of ker Mark Wal three or four, offering easy slide tracks, anti-lift function, a choice of colours, finishes and openings, along with a six point locking system for confidence in security. Both doors are part of our ‘Ready-2-Fit’ range, an initiative we set up to support our fabricator base. “Over the last 12 months we have had the opportunity to review our business and what is important for us and our customer’s futures. We know in the past we have not been seen to have had the most exciting or dynamic of marketing and sales initiatives, but this is now about to change.” Mark explained how the business decided to launch its new #bepartofthefamily campaign leading up to this year’s show, giving fabricators and installer the opportunity to ‘meet with the Selecta family’ on the stand. Selecta’s principles remain intact as a family run business, unlike other profile system companies, who have grown through being acquired by investors or investment companies. Mark believes that with Selecta still being privately owned by its original founder and with the mountain of experience from longserving members of staff, these factors have contributed to giving the organisation an edge on other profile manufacturers. “We may still be seen as the underdog; however, our business has organically grown through catering to our customers needs. Through their support, complaints and compliments, we have learnt to stay close to our roots and develop the business inline with what’s needed. We are proud of what this business has achieved over the last 30 years or so and think it’s about time the market learnt more about what we are capable of. “Our performance standards are on-par with that of any other manufacturer, and at the show we have been exhibiting our all-improved Document Q / PAS 24 Advance 70 Window System on the stand, along with our new 10 point door locking system, again accredited to Document Q and PAS 24. “We have also launched a new ‘Composite Door’ brochure. Taking over seven months to compile; the new brochure has been produced to the highest quality and definitely looks the part. Fabricators and installers will be able to utilise the vast amount of content within the document to entice the homeowner into selecting the right door for them. “We are also upgrading our online door management and design portal in the next week or so, inline with the new brochure to enable customers to select and place orders easily for all of our ‘Ready-2-Fit’ range of products.” Mark added. www.selectasystems.com or www.selectadoors.com
