Q mark certification for casement window

Sustainable building envelope specialist , Schueco UK , has announced that following comprehensive testing in both the UK and Germany , its successful AWS 70 SC casement window has been awarded Q Mark Product Certification by Exova BM Trada .
»»
THE TESTS INCLUDED air , wind , water , recycling and all aspects of BS 4873 , as well as PAS 24 security . The latter is of particular interest to fabricators because it means that the window can be used in Secured by Design projects , providing a useful extra sales opportunity .
The tests were carried out on Schueco AWS 70 SC windows with all the five different vent profiles , including inside and outside glazing beads with their respective hinges and locking systems .
This independent confirmation of the Schueco AWS 70 SC window ’ s overall performance underlines its superior quality and enables fabricators who have already achieved – or are planning to achieve – Q Mark certification , to add this popular window to their approved range of products .

HOWARD WILSON , Hurst Plastics ’ Composite Manager , explains : “ 2016 was a tremendous year for our composite fire door , particularly the first half of the year when we secured some very sizeable commercial contracts . During the year , we made a number of investments into new plant and machinery . This helped us to boost our production capabilities so that we could satisfy the increased demand for fire doors .”
The range of Hurst composite fire doors includes FD30 , FD30S and FDSBD . Each door has been audited and certified by Warrington Exova BM Trada - an independent third party which assures the quality , performance and traceability of every component of the fire door .
To sustain further growth in 2017 , Hurst has invested in additional new machinery to increase production rates of all doors . This includes an automated door wrapping machine , which will reduce packing time of composite doors by 60 %.

FROM FACTORY TO SHOWROOM

»»
SINCE GETTING OUT OF fabricating , Wilson Windows , the fast-growing family business , has already used its old factory space to double the size of its showroom twice over in just two years .
Wilson Windows Director , Dale Wilson , explained : “ There are so many great-looking products from Glazerite and they have been really supportive in providing all the display pieces we needed . So at first , we took a corner of the factory and doubled our 500 sq ft showroom to show them off at their best . But we soon outgrew even that so now we have taken most of what ’ s left of the factory and doubled the showroom again . And now , to be honest , we could already use even more space .”
Wilsons have really made the most of Glazerite ’ s offering , with eye-catching features including the Halo Rustique casement window with its VS-style runthrough horns , the Halo Flush sash – displayed alongside its premium counterpart , the R9 Heritage window .
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd director Jason Thompson said : “ We have supported many customers in shutting their factories – so it ’ s especially rewarding to see a company not only benefitting from the decision but making very good use of the redundant factory space .”
