A Route to Paperless
Production
» » PAPERLESS
production is now within easy
reach of aluminium fabricators,
after BM Aluminium revealed
its innovative new InfoServer
module at the FIT Show.
InfoServer gives users of
BM Aluminium’s LogiKal
software system a simple route
to paperless production with
an integrated Fabrication
Production Control (FPC)
system.
It allows users to send
work orders generated within
LogiKal direct to terminals on
the factory floor, eliminating
the need to print out and
pass around paperwork. BM
Aluminium says it has the
potential to save time, improve
efficiency, and of course reduce
the risk of errors.
The operator at each terminal
simply scans a barcode on
the frame or profile and
InfoServer ensures that the
relevant information is exported
instantly from LogiKal and
fed direct to that location.
Each terminal is touch screen
operated and the functions can
be customised and adapted to
suit the production flow within
any factory.
A fabrication supervisor
controls the priority of work
orders displayed to the operators
at each terminal and, because
the terminals communicate
with one another and effectively
track the progress of a product
around the factory, operators
don’t need to move away from
their locations to ask for or
check instructions.
The export from LogiKal
also handles associated saw and
CNC links, so InfoServer can
fit easily into an existing factory
set up.
One of the other key benefits
of InfoServer is that it comes
with Wallboard Information
screens which display the
progress of production at a
glance. This means companies
using InfoServer can give their
customers real time updates
on the status of their orders
and any problems or issues in
production flow can be instantly
identified.
BM Aluminium is stressing
that InfoServer is fully scalable
and can be implemented to
suit the needs of any size of
fabricator. Managing Director,
Dean Hodges, says: “We know
how popular this kind of
technology is with fabricators
because it has been available
for several years from the
PVCu side of our business. For
operators, it gives them the
information they need at the
right time and in the right place
and, for managers, it allows
them to interrogate the database
to extract accurate fabrication
data to calculate accurate labour
costings.”
