HARDWARE& SECURITY Trade counter network gears-up for growth » » DERBYSHIRE TRADE specialist, ProTrade Upvc, has continued its expansion with the opening of a Chesterfield branch. The third trade counter business within the ProTrade network, Paul Wilkins, Director ProTrade, said that the opening of the new 4,000 sq ft facility, off Whitting Valley Road will increase ProTrade’s geographical reach throughout Derbyshire and beyond. He said: “there are a lot of fitters and installers working out of Chesterfield so it made sense to be closer to them. It’s also a reflection of the demand that we’re seeing and our growing reputation. Ultimately wherever our customers want us to go.” ProTrade Upvc was set up in 2010 in Swadlincote. The company opened its second site in Loughborough four years later. In addition to the investment it’s made in its new Chesterfield site, it will relocate its Swadlincote trade counter to a new 4,500 sq ft facility, this autumn. HWL launched R9 unglazed last year following significant investment in its manufacturing process and the addition of Timberweld® sash-welding technologies. This gives it an almost unique capability in the UK to butt weld 70 » JUL 2018 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M window sashes inside and out, replicating the aesthetic delivered in a 90° mechanical joint. The process also eliminates the requirement to glass-bond units to provide structural strength to the window. This means that HWL’s window can be supplied frame-only and glazed on site, significantly reducing weight and simplifying installation. “What we’re doing is levelling the playing field,” said Mark Haley, Director, HWL Trade Frames. “There isn’t an installer in the country who would fit a window glass bonded by choice because of the weight and because the install is much more difficult. “We’ve removed all of those obstacles. You buy your glass from your usual supplier and fit it just like any other window. What that leaves you with is a great window but one that is also easy to install.” www.hwlwindows.co.uk
