HARDWARE& SECURITY Passion, Commitment and Teamwork »»Shelforce, the window manufacturing arm of Birmingham City Council, has undergone a major re-structuring over the last two years and 2015 sees the organisation in a very healthy position with new contacts underway and discussions in progress with a raft of potential new customers. Howard Trotter, Business Manager joined Shelfore with a remit to make Shelforce a commercially viable enterprise once again and explains how the company is now seeing the benefits of the re-structure. Set up in the mid 19th century as part of the Royal School for the Blind, the company initially provided the blind with the opportunity to find useful, paid work in the manufacture of small items. Now known as Shelforce, the company has produced PVCu windows, doors and curtain-walling since 1984 from its modern manufacturing unit in Erdington.
