CONSERVATORIES No Longer in the Closet »»When fire safety consultant, Ian Copstick decide that enough was enough after seeing his home office space deteriorate rapidly by his wife’s every growing clothing closet, he decided to investigate into the world of garden rooms. Ian, a retired fire-fighter set up his business, IMC Fire Consultancy Limited six years ago, offering private firms consultancy on general fire safety of public areas and buildings. He had been working out of the family homes’ spare bedroom for several years. However, after the introduction of ‘bedroom tax’ back in 2013, and his spouses’ announcement that she needed more wardrobe space for her ever growing wardrobe, Ian took steps to visit a few local companies who supplied outside garden rooms. At the same time, a good friend of the couple was having a Supalite solid roof fitted by Manchester based Absolute Window Co, through its branded Roof2Roof division, and recommended Ian speak to the company after being extremely pleased with the level of service he had experienced from the company and his own home improvement. Absolute Window surveyed Ian’s garden, and within days had designed the garden with all my needs catered for in the bespoke designed building. Considering how long it would have taken to build an extension on our home; planning permission and then the build itself, my new luxury garden room is an ideal and more cost effective all-round solution.” Absolute Window recently launched its new range of ‘Luxury Garden Rooms’ to its existing installer network, sharing the benefits of installing the rooms into homeowner’s homes. James Dance, Absolute Window Co managing director commented: “These bespoke designed rooms can be installed into almost any garden space, without the hassle of applying for planning approval. They are made from quality PVCu cladding and fitted with high security windows and doors, a lightweight tiled roofing and guttering. “Being versatile in design, low maintenance, secure and insulated for additional warmth, end-users looking for a summerhouse, studio or just additional room to spend time away from the house will find our Luxury Garden Rooms the perfect solution.” room exactly to Ian’s needs, then took only 5 days to install the luxury, insulated room. Retailers can achieve a higher sales value on a Skyroom installation because the product has a far more realistic orangery appearance than other mock orangery systems on the market.” Gareth adds: “We are looking forward to an even more exciting year in 2016 and I’m certain that the Skyroom will be in high demand as nearly 40% of homeowners plan to update their homes. With housing market reports showing that the market is still slow, homeowners can add significant value by investing in their current homes, rather than moving. And with record low rates on borrowing, home improvements can be a cost-effective way to boost value to a property in the long-term. One of the top UK home improvement projects is a large, family-friendly kitchen extension, which can add between 5 and 10% to the value of a property. The Skyroom lends itself well to these schemes which combine open living spaces and acres of glass to blend with the garden.” Rapid Sales »»Celebrations have been taking place at Atlas Glazed Roof Solutions as the company announces a successful year since the launch of its Skyroom contemporary mock orangery. Sales of the Skyroom have been growing rapidly as the market becomes increasingly aware of the unique benefits of the product and, notably, the high profit margins it delivers. Production of the Skyroom more than doubled in the last six months of 2015 and saw more than 20 installers invested in a Skyroom demonstration model for their showrooms. Gareth Thomas, Sales and Marketing Director at Atlas Glazed Roof Solutions, explains: “It’s was a fantastic first year for the Skyroom. The secret to the Skyroom’s realistic orangery appearance is its dummy ringbeam system, which creates the appearance internally of a real orangery. 64 » JAN 2016 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M
