Insulated Glass Units for roofs and frames
and a wide range of ancillaries to the trade.
The Birmingham-based company operates
from a fully functioning 30,000 sqft high,
Performance 3 unit manufacturing facility,
employing a large team of dedicated, highly
motivated professionals.
The workforce at Abcell is fully trained
in all aspects of the manufacturing process
to produce the calibre of product. This is
apparent in the 60 Global roofs and 1900
units of BSEN1279 Part 2 accredited
performance glass it produces each
week, using state-of-the-art, automated
manufacturing machinery and software.
In addition to the Guardian Roof, other
performance products can also offer energy
saving properties. Global conservatory glass
roofs come with Eco-cool Max self-cleaning
glass as standard, which gives 78% solar heat
reflection and has a U value of 1.0 when
manufactured using the argon filled option.
All units are developed using Superspacer
warm edge technology, with triple glazed
units using Superspacer cushion edge
technology.
Turnaround is available within a 3 - 5
day period on standard orders and 5 - 7
days for bespoke orders with a free delivery
service throughout the UK via its own fleet
of vehicles. The company is so confident

a 10 year guarantee on all products, with an
additional 20 year guarantee on seal failure.
The glass processing side of the company
was set-up in August 2009 and even though
the UK economy was struggling, it saw the
opportunity to expand the business. The
Eco-cool self cleaning glass has two processes
at work. Firstly, the special coating harnesses
natural daylight, which triggers the breakdown
of the dirt and grime on the outer surface of
the glass. Secondly, when rainwater hits the
glass, rather than forming droplets it flattens
and spreads out across the surface of the glass
helping to wash away the loosened dirt and
grime. This sheeting effect also minimises
spots and streaks by helping the glass to dry
more quickly and evenly.

also offer a free survey and on-site assistance
service, and further support is available via
brochures and samples on request. The before
and after care service is specifically geared
towards individual needs.
Managing Director, Paul Ford, talks about
Guardian Warm Roof, “Of course, price
is always important and we are very, very
competitive. But when you order a Guardian
Roof from Abcell, you’ll also get much more
than a low quote, you’ll get internal timber
batons, 25mm insulation panel and the 72mm
insulated plasterboard required to achieve
the u-value of 0.18. Also, all Metrotile orders
are despatched with the tiles cut to size and
angled to suit, we also cut and fit the 40mm
insulation between the bars ensuring a correct
and tight fit. As we supply a full roof kit and
because it is built, 40mm insulation cut, tiles
cut and prepared, it will save you having to
source materials separately and save you time
on-site cutting and prepping tiles to suit the
hip bars. Abcell also now exclusively fabricate
external radius end covers for the metrotile
and tapco slate to finish the job perfectly.
