MACHINERY LONG-SERVING ELUMATEC MD RETIRES Phil Heavey, respected Managing Director of market-leading machinery manufacturer elumatec, has announced his retirement. » » OVER DECADES OF HARD work and dedication, Phil has played an integral role in establishing elumatec as one of Britain’s foremost providers of quality profile machining products. He’s overseen extensive growth, the launch of dozens of best- in-class machines, and built the elumatec brand into one of most prominent and respected in UK glass and glazing. Phil officially stepped down in December, and has been succeeded as Managing Director by Neil Parton, who joined the company as Sales Director in March 2018. However, from January, Phil has continued to work for elumatec as a part-time consultant, primarily focusing on the company’s overseas subsidiaries, but continuing to support the UK team when required. “Phil’s contribution to elumatec has been enormous,” Neil comments. “It’s frankly inconceivable that we’d be in the incredibly strong, market- leading position we are today without his years of dedication to the company, and on behalf of everyone here at elumatec, I want to thank him for his service. “We’re obviously very sad to see Phil step down as MD - but he’s left us with a fantastic legacy to build on in the years ahead, and we’re delighted he’ll be continuing to work with us in some capacity.” Phil Heavey comments: “I want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of customers, colleagues and suppliers I’ve had the pleasure of working with during my time at elumatec. “My job would’ve been so much harder without their continued support and friendship over the years. “I’ve spent the majority of my working life at elumatec, so it was with mixed feelings that I took the decision to retire; but I have every confidence that our fantastic senior management team will continue to take the company from strength to strength.” Marking ninety years in business, elumatec is a leading machinery manufacturer with a worldwide reputation for excellence thanks to the legendary build quality of its products, and the huge range of technical, support and software services it can offer. www.elumatec.co.uk 68 » F EB 2019 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M Heritage machinery package has the edge » » LEADING WEST Midlands fabricator Central RPL has recently invested in a heritage machinery package from Haffner Murat. Gary Morton, Managing Director of Central RPL said: “The heritage market is one of the biggest growth areas at the moment. Haffner Murat’s heritage machinery package allows us to help our customers tap into this demand as well as deliver the quality we’re renowned for.” The heritage machinery package includes a specialist milling station that mills two joints in one operation. The 45 degree and 90 degree milling and sawblade cutting is carried out in one pass for the butt joint finish of the outer face. The plc-controlled milling station has three servo motors to ensure greater accuracy of the final position. Overall, the fast operation ensures Central RPL can achieve increased output and greater efficiency on the shop floor. The package also includes a KC258/HL Two Head Corner Welder that recreates the traditional mechanical butt joint on the welded corner and creates an internal weld that enhances the overall appearance of flush sash windows. Amongst many other features designed to improve quality and efficiency there are dedicated contour blocks to ensure accurate welding and a dedicated setting plate for butt joint location. As well as having the machinery Central RPL needed, Haffner Murat also offered an invaluable level of expertise. Gary comments: “I knew from reading the industry press that Dave Thomas at Haffner knows what he’s talking about. After a conversation with Dave about our requirements it was clear he understood what we wanted to achieve and the equipment we needed.” Central RPL now fabricates their flush casement windows using the new equipment. Gary says: “Our flush casement windows mimic the traditional appearance of period windows, whilst offering superb energy efficiency. They offer the perfect solution for planners in areas protected by conservation orders. The simple lines and proportions also mean they have masses of potential in more modern buildings too. All this whilst retaining the integrity of a welded product.” www.haffnermurat.com
