conservatories Self adhered roofing membrane benefits installers »»Roof Assured by Sarnafil installers can now benefit from the new, self adhered, single ply roofing membrane that has been added to Sika Sarnafil’s portfolio. The self adhered hot air weldable roof membrane combines all the high performance, traditional features of the Sarnafil membrane with fast and easy installation. Installation times can be cut by up to 50%, saving time and money for installers and home owners, and the peel and stick application provides instant wind uplift resistance through the self adhesive backing. The membrane is rolled out and aligned, the release liner peeled off and using a brush or squeegee, to prevent blisters, the membrane is adhered to the substrate. During pre-launch trials registered contractors noted the advantage of not having to open, stir and apply adhesives on site. Roof Assured installer Kevin Hodge, managing director of County Flat Roofing, Weston Super Mare, used Sarnafil Self Adhered for the first time on a recent, complex roofing installation in Hereford. He said: “This is one of our first installations using the new membrane, developed by Sika Sarnafil in Switzerland. Its ease of application, flexibility and accessibility allowed us scope to meet the complexities of this unusual roof design.” The Sarnafil roofing systems has been used on many high profile projects around the country, including Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium, Arndale Centre, Bluewater Retail Centre, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Bristol airport passenger terminals, and the exciting award winning St Pancras Railway Station. Sika-Sarnafil introduced Roof Assured as a way to offer home owners, roofing solutions, using the same pedigree of high performing product as these impressive projects. www.roofassured.co.uk Coming to the Rescue »»When Northamptonshire based installers Wollaston Windows was faced with an especially challenging conservatory project in Little Houghton, it knew it could rely on its trade supplier Astraseal for help. Working closely with Astraseal, Wollaston Windows installed an aluminium conservatory, with frame and guttering, all sprayed in a tasteful grey green (RAL 7009) fitted with a top-specification Pilkington Active blue glass 86 » F EB 2016 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M roof then equipped with three sets of Smart Aluminium in line bi-folds. “This had the potential to be quite tricky but thanks to Astraseal’s support, the installation ran like clockwork,” said Wollaston Windows MD Brian Henson. “For instance, there was a bit of a mix up between the client and the architect which resulted in Astraseal being asked to rework a three way bi-fold and turn it into a two and one. When we discovered a mistake had been made, Astraseal simply collected the door from site and reworked/preassembled the door the same day and didn’t charge, even though they weren’t at fault. “One of the benefits of working with Astraseal is how they pre-assemble the conservatory in their factory beforehand, meaning we know it will fit together perfectly when out onsite. The fact they can spray everything in-house was perfect for this job and meant we could go back to our customer with really competitive lead times. “We were delighted to work with Wollaston Windows and as always, we went the extra mile to ensure the project was a complete success,” commented Zac Nedimovic, Astraseal marketing manager. “Wollaston Windows did a fantastic job of the installation, and we’re really looking forward to working with them on other projects in the future.” Call Astraseal on 01933 227233 or visit www.astraseal.co.uk
