colour
manufacturer in Europe. This
included paint finishing each trim
to automotive quality in paint,
gloss and chrome. We have taken
this knowhow and applied it to
materials used within the window
and door industry, such as timber,
PVCu, GRP and metal.
“Quality is paramount, that’s
why we use automotive grade
paints that are trialled and tested
for adhesion and wear on every
custom made colour we produce.
So confident are we that we offer
long term warrantees on our
work.
“In addition to the paint
finishes on glazing cassettes, we
have also developed through
colours such as red, green, blue,
black, rosewood, oak and cherry.
This improves product life cycle
and safeguards against damage
through prolonged or heavy
use. And for bad weather areas
or those exposed to salt water,
we can apply a lacquer coat to
increase durability further.”
In July of last year the business
changed hands and was bought
by a private investor. Reshad was
appointed as Managing Director
and the company relocated from
its original site in Hawkwell,
Essex to South Woodham
Ferrers. This significant change
has allowed them to reconfigure
the plant to promote efficiencies
and team working through
refinement of the factory layout.
This was done with the help
of graduate engineers from the
institute for manufacturing at
Cambridge University, resulting
in the complete resurrection of
the company. The installation of
a 6 meter spray booth has already
allowed the company to attract
new business, particularly from
the local trade sector.
“The growth in sales of
composite doors in bespoke
colours has lead to an increased
demand for trims fascia and
soffits to match. Auto Plas has
found that local stockists of
trims and architraves only hold
limited stocks of foiled products
and are therefore missing added
value sales opportunities for the
myriad of new colours hitting the
market. The company is perfectly
placed to help these customers
meet demand.
“Colour will remain key for
Auto Plas throughout 2015,
as the home improvement and
specification market continues
to be driven by the need to be
unique and use colour to express
their personality. In previous
years we have seen trends for
duck egg, chartwell green and ice
cream colours, particularly in the
summer, as well as bright fascias
in yellow. I also see shades of
grey will continue to be favoured
by architects this year,” Reshad
concludes.
