product designs, demand for coloured
PVCu windows has grown dramatically in
recent years. Whether to better simulate
traditional timber windows, create a
contemporary urban look or complete
a more integrated decorative scheme,
coloured PVCu windows have become the
customers’ preferred choice. Colour has
consequently become one of the key battle
grounds for both system suppliers and
fabricators alike.
The typical response has been to extend
the number of standard coloured foils
offered, within the constraints imposed by
the foiling method widely used to produce
coloured PVCu windows. Product variety
and inventory levels are consequently
increasing , adding complexity and cost to
operations. Lead-times and minimum order
quantities for non-standard colours are also
extending.
For all of these efforts, customers are still
only being offered a limited range of colours.
The bespoke colour choice that is standard
for timber and aluminium windows cannot
be matched with PVCu windows produced
from pre-decorated profile lengths. A more
responsive decorating solution is required if
PVCu is to compete for the demand for true
colour choice.
