glass&sealedunits Committing to Continual Investment »»Clearview talks to Bob Norris, General Manager for Glasscraft Decorative Ltd, about the company’s £150k investment in new machinery technology to assist in the growth of the business by offering customers additional processed glass products and increased production capacity. Since being acquired by Investment Company Corpacq Ltd in 2010, the Leeds based company has continued its strategy to invest into the development of the business and introduced a range of new glass machinery to enhance its performance and support lead times for its customers. Bob explains: “We have experienced continual growth through the last few years and in order to cater for fluctuations within our manufacturing it has been necessary to invest in new cutting tables. We recently, integrated two new Bottero machines, a float glass table and laminating glass cutting table, alongside our exiting Bystronic cutting line. Both give full edge deletion, with the float table able to offer us the scope to scan templates and cut glass shapes. “Investment in the new manufacturing kit opens up our business to cater for additional new contracts, as well as being able to offer customers the opportunity to be more adventurous with their designs.” The company has also reviewed its offering to alternative marketplaces and has seen the integration of a Schiatti 10 spindle edge polisher help the business launch into the glass processing market; being able to supply a range of polished edge glass for glass balustrades, shelving and associated products for commercial and domestic applications. Additionally, Glasscraft has completed a fire rating assessment by CEN Solutions/ER Certification, enabling them to manufacture and distribute fire rated glazing products. Bob continues: “We have been putting into place the building blocks of the company’s foundations over the last few years; introducing new production equipment, a new glass processing software system, appointing new key personnel and developing glass craft performance & quality sealed in new products for our existing and potential markets. “The implementation of the new machinery will help to continue our growth and allow us to become a complete and comprehensive supplier of glass products to our customers.” The company, who works closely with sister company Regency Glass, is also able to provide triple glazed and Krypton filled units, as well as a range of Georgian and decorative products. Recently they became a direct distributor of Screenline U-Size integral blinds, offering both residential and commercial products.
